Melinda M. Sloma opened Sloma Law Group in 2012. She was born and raised in Battle Creek, Michigan. She attended Albion College and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy graduating Magna Cum Laude with Honors. Melinda went on to attend Michigan State University Law School where she earned her Juris Doctor degree with a concentration in child and family advocacy. Melinda practices in the areas of family law, defamation, inmate civil rights and general civil litigation. She is admitted to practice in the state of Arizona, the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. Melinda has a broad range of family law and civil litigation experience, including having successfully argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Melinda is currently an Executive Board Member of the Maricopa County Bar Association. She was appointed as Secretary in 2016 and Treasurer in 2017. Prior to her appointment on the Executive Board, she served as a member of the Maricopa County Bar Association’s Young Lawyer's Division and held numerous positions on the board, including President in 2013. Melinda has volunteered at shelters for victims of domestic violence and the homeless through the LAWS (Legal Assistance to Women and Shelters) program which provides informational seminars regarding bankruptcy, family law, and domestic violence issues to those in need. She is also a fellow with the Sandra Day O’Connor Inn of Court, where she served as Secretary for the 2013-2014 term.
